First Quarter Update – March, 2008 - PDF Version


Welcome fellow shareholders, members and friends,

We are pleased to provide our first of many regular updates. We’ve been incredibly busy and have a lot to fill you in on! It’s fitting that as the cold Alberta winter fades, we are making the final preparations to have two stunning homes ready for your winter season vacations. But, we’re getting ahead ourselves…

First of all, WELCOME to Paper Umbrella Residences Club. With your tremendous support we are running … and picking up speed! Some highlights of what we’ve accomplished since the New Year:

  • After much effort, extensive research and development, focus groups and long hours getting it right, Paper Umbrella Residences Club was incorporated on January 14, 2008.
  • We have learned, adjusted, and heard many important pieces of input from you – we thank you and welcome more!
  • We have researched a dozen locations -- 3 in Mexico, 4 in the Western United States and Canada, and 5 in the Caribbean.We have gone on four dedicated due diligence trips as well as a couple of others tied into our other travels.
  • We closed the "Founders Share Release" on March 3, 2008.
  • We just opened the next share release. Called the "Early Investors Release", it’s 9 shares, priced at $138,500. The first share sold in the first week and we have several interested families. Please reach out to those you think might be good additions to our community!
  • AND best of all – picking up from where we left off above – we have signed deals on our first two properties in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Roatan, Honduras!

The new properties…

We’ve visited ourselves and are thrilled to welcome you to Villa La Estancia in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Infinity Bay in Roatan, Honduras! Why?

  • These are stunning properties in first-class destinations and soaring property markets.
  • So, get your snorkeling or scuba gear ready for the world’s second largest reef or zip-line through the rainforest of Roatan – the place the New York Times called the “next place in the sun.” This 2,545 square foot unit is slated to be finished construction in December or January.
  • Or, maybe you’d rather watch whales that swim off our beach near Land’s End in the top-ranked Cabo San Lucas. Our 2,166 square foot top-floor unit will be ready in May.

Here’s what we’ll be doing over the next quarter…

  • Finalizing our marketing print material and going live with our new website.
  • Closing and outfitting Cabo with all the fun beach stuff – let us know if you want to help.
  • Marketing the Early Investor Release.
  • Continuing research for our next homes – input is always welcome. Currently, we're looking at La Quinta, Palm Springs; San Francisco; Sosua, Dominican Republic, and New York, New York. 
  • Gearing up our administration and web-based reservation system.
  • Setting up our full board (once we've closed the Early Investor Round). if you'd like to serve.

And a couple of things to come for you:

  • We’re planning our first members’ get together – as a thank you and a first step to building our community.
  • We negotiated, as part of the purchase, free time in Cabo from early April until we take possession. Members, please let us know if you are interested in going there. We are also using this for potential new members.
